B.Com (Professional)

The B.Com Professional programme is a three year degree course which has been designed  to enhance the proficiency of students in Accountancy, Taxation, Law and Audit  along  with academic excellence, application based learning and futuristic vision.  The course provides students with the unique opportunity to pursue their under graduation in B.Com and also take up one professional course:

  1. Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  2. Chartered Accountancy (CA)  

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

   • To enhance specialized knowledge and skills in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, Law and Taxation.

• To equip students with the necessary training and innovation required to meet international job standards

• To provide students with the opportunity to play diverse roles at senior or advisory levels in any organization.

 

About ACCA:

ACCA is a global body that provides students with a ‘Certified Chartered Accountant’ certification. Following completion of up to 13 professional examinations, three years of supervised, relevant accounting experience and an ethics module, it enables an individual to become a Chartered Certified Accountant. The ACCA professional examinations are offered worldwide four times yearly in March, June, September and December as computer-based exams. The qualification is structured in three modules:

The Applied Knowledge level consists of 3 examinations:

  • AB - Accountant in Business
  • MA - Management Accounting
  • FA - Financial Accounting

The Applied Skills level consists of 6 examinations:

  • LW - Corporate and Business Law
  • PM - Performance Management
  • TX - Taxation
  • FR - Financial Reporting
  • AA - Audit and Assurance
  • FM - Financial Management

The Strategic Professional level involves 4 examinations: 2 from Essential and any 2 from Options.

Essential (or Compulsory):

  • SBL - Strategic Business Leader
  • SBR - Strategic Business Reporting

Options:

  • AFM - Advanced Financial Management
  • APM - Advanced Performance Management
  • ATX - Advanced Taxation
  • AAA - Advanced Audit and Assurance

 

ACCA with Christ Academy Institute for Advanced Studies

At Christ Academy Institute for Advanced Studies, students who opt for BCom Professional with ACCA will be eligible for

  • Training up to Applied Skill Level (Executive level)
  • Exemption of six papers while pursuing ACCA with CAIAS.
  • Certification programs for skill enhancement will be provided

Students would also be eligible to receive following additional certifications from the ACCA professional body along with their course:

  • Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business from ACCA on completion of 9 papers.
  • BSc (Honours) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University by submitting a dissertation and paying the required fee to ACCA.

 

Examination:

Students would undergo training for any one of the Applied Skill Level papers during each academic year and would be eligible to appear in the respective papers at the end of the academic year.

About Chartered Accountancy (CA):

Chartered Accountant is a designation that is given to a professional of accounting who has received certification from a statutory body (ICAI) that states he/ she possesses the necessary qualifications to take care of the matters related to accounting and taxation of a business. Students have two options to undergo CA training:

  • Direct Entry Scheme (After completion of Graduation)
  • Foundation Route (Along with Graduation)

The CA course is structured at three different levels:

  1. Foundation Level
  2. Intermediate Level (Group I and Group II)
  3. Final Level (Group I and Group II)

After successful completion of CA foundation and Intermediate Group I, students would have to undergo three years of practical training under a practising Chartered Accountant.

CA with Christ Academy Institute for Advanced Studies

At Christ Academy Institute for Advanced Studies, students who opt for BCom Professional with CA will be eligible for

  • Training for CA Foundation and Intermediate Group I
  • Certification programs for skill enhancement will be provided

Students undergoing BCom Professional at CAIAS will get the benefit of completing the CA course two years earlier compared to the Direct Entry Scheme.

Examination:

  • CA Foundation Examination

    Students would be eligible to appear for the CA Foundation Examination after the successful completion of II Semester

  • CA Intermediate (Group I)

         Students would be eligible to appear for the CA Intermediate Group I in their VI Semester subject to clearance of CA Foundation Examination
