About the Department: The Department of Arts & Humanities at CAIAS affiliated to Bangalore University offers you the opportunity to explore the fields of Psychology, English and Journalism to earn an honors in BA (4-year course) under the NEP 2020 scheme that can extend to you pursuing a Masters in English Literature or Psychology. If you love literature, are a Media enthusiast, or want to understand the way the human mind works, look no further.

The Department of Arts & Humanities (established: 2017)
The Department of Arts & Humanities offers multidisciplinary courses under the NEP 2020 scheme that offers a 4 years BA honors program in Psychology-Journalism & Psychology-English as the core subjects. Students can further choose to specialize in Psychology or English Literature at the postgraduate level. Other subjects include AECC (Languages); an Open Elective course and Skill Development course in the 1st 2 years.

All the three streams also provide opportunities and encourages students to intern at various Media houses, NGOs, Rehabilitation Centres, Schools, Colleges. About the Course: M.A. English or Master of Arts in English is a Postgraduate Academic Degree program. The course includes:
which provides a diverse flavor to it. The curriculum consists of poetry, prose, drama, fiction, non-fiction and critical theories in English. The students are encouraged to undertake UGC NET preparation, Add On courses in Research Methodology and Critical Theories as well as Research Paper Writing. They are encouraged and guided to take certificate courses such as TEFL, TESOL, CELTA etc. In addition, an open elective paper in a non-English subject gives students a chance to expand their multidisciplinary skills.

About the Course: Master of Science in Psychology is a Postgraduate Academic Degree program. The first-year curriculum prescribed by Bangalore University includes both theory and practical papers: Theory papers consist of essential papers and subjects that provide an opportunity to acquire knowledge in more novel subjects. It includes Foundational papers in Psychology and Research Methods (Quantitative & Qualitative) and Statistics.
Practical papers instruct in conducting:
Psychological Assessments,
Developing modules & delivering training for different psychological skills to others as well as research work to develop an assessment scale.
In the second year, students can choose specializations from Clinical Psychology, Child Guidance or Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Availability of the specializations is subject to enrollment of minimum number of students. Some common theory papers address issues currently relevant to all professionals in the field. In addition, an open elective paper in a non-psychology subject gives students a chance to widen their horizons.
Specialization-specific papers provide comprehensive knowledge as well as practical training in assessments & interventions. Students are also required to complete a compulsory internship and submit a dissertation in their respective specialization.
MSc Psychology at CAIAS is a rigorous, but rewarding program. Students receive the highest standard of instruction and research guidance from faculty members with varied and substantial industry and research experience. Additionally, the department conducts regular guest lectures and industrial visits that are relevant to the field. The in-house counselling cell, Solace, also conducts multiple activities in collaboration with students which provides a unique opportunity for experiential learning.
