Bachelor of Science in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science [B. Sc. (P.M. Cs.)] program is a three-year undergraduate course that has directed its focus on enhancing the skills of the students to help them prepare for higher studies, research and jobs in industries.
Physics: Physics means “knowledge of nature”. It is the natural science that involves the study of matter, its motion and behavior through space and time along with related concepts such as energy and force. Academic curriculum has both theory and practical sessions. It explores concepts such as Mechanics, Heat and Thermodynamics, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics and Fourier Series, Statistical Physics, Quantum Physics, Atmospheric Physics, Nanomaterials, Astrophysics, Solid State Physics, Semiconductor Physics, Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics, Electronics, Magnetic Materials, Dielectrics and Quantum Mechanics. It aims at inculcating a spirit of enquiry and research aptitude in the students.
Mathematics: The course in Mathematics is designed to strengthen the concepts and improve the knowledge. Academic curriculum has both theory and practical sessions. The course aims at easy explication of formidable mathematical concepts. It helps the students to enjoy Mathematics, pose and solve meaningful problems, use abstraction to perceive relationships and structure as well as to understand the basic structure of the subject. The course enables the students to develop and appreciate various concepts in Mathematics like Analysis, Algebra, Differential Equations, Numerical methods. FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) tools like SCILAB and MAXIMA are used in the mathematical learning environment.
Computer Science: The scope of Computer Science has widened and has foregrounded it in the field of research and development. The course has a theoretical component coupled with a practical component. The course sensitizes the students to the recent advances in the field and helps them to envision the upcoming challenges in it.
Eligibility: Pass in 10+2
Pre-University Course/ Equivalent Course recognized by Bangalore University. Generally a candidate to opt a subject should have studied that subject at the qualifying examination. It is compulsory to have studied Mathematics at the 11th & 12th Exam.
