Bachelor of Science in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics [B. Sc. (P.C. M.)] program is a three-year undergraduate course that has directed its focus on enhancing the knowledge and skills of the students .
Physics: Physics means “knowledge of nature”. It is the natural science that involves the study of matter, its motion and behavior through space and time along with related concepts such as energy and force. Academic curriculum has both theory and practical sessions. It explores concepts such as Mechanics, Heat and Thermodynamics, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics and Fourier Series, Statistical Physics, Quantum Physics, Atmospheric Physics, Nanomaterials, Astrophysics, Solid State Physics, Semiconductor Physics, Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics, Electronics, Magnetic Materials, Dielectrics and Quantum Mechanics. It aims at inculcating a spirit of enquiry and research aptitude in the students.
Chemistry: Chemistry is a science that deals with the composition structure, properties of substances and the transformations that they undergo. Academic curriculum has both theory and practical sessions. It primarily explores mathematical concepts in relation to Chemistry, Gaseous State, Photochemistry, Liquids and Solutions, Periodic Table and Periodic Properties, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Aliphatic Hydrocarbons, Quantum Mechanics and Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding, Aromatic Hydrocarbons, Organic Halogen Compounds, Chemical Kinetics, Thermodynamics, Metallurgy, Environmental Chemistry, Nuclear and Radiochemistry, Stereochemistry, Electrochemistry and Biochemistry. The aim of the course is to instil a research aptitude in the students so that they can use their knowledge in real life situations.
Mathematics: The course in Mathematics is designed to strengthen the concepts and improve the knowledge. Academic curriculum has both theory and practical sessions. The course aims at easy explication of formidable mathematical concepts. It helps the students to enjoy Mathematics, pose and solve meaningful problems, use abstraction to perceive relationships and structure as well as to understand the basic structure of the subject. The course enables the students to develop and appreciate various concepts in Mathematics like Analysis, Algebra, Differential Equations, Numerical methods. FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) tools like SCILAB and MAXIMA are used in the mathematical learning environment.
