Dr. Christopher Devakumar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Commerce at Christ Academy Institute for Advanced Studies, Bengaluru. He brings over 14 years of teaching experience and more than 9 years of industry experience, combining academic expertise with substantial professional exposure in the finance and business domains.
Dr. Christopher has previously served at Christ University and PES University, where he contributed to teaching and academic activities in the areas of Commerce and Management. He has designed and developed several short-term certificate courses, curriculum frameworks, and credit matrices for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across the Commerce and Management disciplines. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a Business Analyst with leading multinational organisations, including IBM India, Accenture, and Goldman Sachs, gaining extensive industry experience across various domains of finance and business analytics.
His key areas of teaching and research include Investment Management, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, Management Accounting, Blockchain Technology, Derivatives, Risk Management, and Business Research Methods. His research interests primarily focus on financial markets, derivatives, blockchain applications, market anomalies, and emerging developments in financial technology. He has published research articles on the Indian derivatives market and market anomalies and has presented research papers at several national and international conferences on topics related to derivatives, blockchain technology, and risk management.
Dr. Christopher has also contributed significantly to academic governance and quality enhancement. He serves as a Board of Studies member for various colleges and higher educational institutions in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. In September 2023, he was appointed as a Board of Evaluation member for Ph.D. research at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, reflecting his academic expertise and contribution to higher education and research.
He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), UK, and is also associated with professional and academic bodies in the field of accounting and finance. His active engagement with professional organisations enables him to remain connected with contemporary developments and practices in the financial sector.
Dr. Christopher holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, which he completed in 2022. He has also completed a Professional Certification in FinTech from the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM Kozhikode) and is an alumnus of the institution.
With a strong blend of academic experience, industry exposure, research expertise, curriculum development, and professional engagement, Dr. Christopher Devakumar continues to contribute to the advancement of Commerce and Finance education, research, and industry-oriented academic practices.
