Assistant Professor of English

“Dr. Priyadharshini C.P.C. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Arts and Humanities at Christ Academy Institute for Advanced Studies. With a strong academic background and a deep passion for English Language and Literature, she holds an M.A., M.Phil., B.Ed., PGDCET, Ph.D., and M.Sc. (Psychology). She completed her Ph.D. from Bharathiar University, further strengthening her academic and research expertise in English Studies. With 12 years of teaching experience, she brings extensive experience in teaching, research, curriculum development, and student mentoring.

Her teaching combines literary analysis with insights from psychology, providing students with a well-rounded and interdisciplinary understanding of literature, language, and human behaviour. Her areas of academic expertise include Comparative Literature, British and American Literature, Postcolonial Studies, Caribbean Literature, Asian American Studies, Communicative English, and Applied Psychology. Her teaching approach encourages students to think critically, engage closely with literary texts, and understand their cultural, historical, social, and psychological contexts. She also focuses on language development and professional communication, helping students strengthen their academic and workplace communication skills.

Her B.Ed. qualification further enriches her pedagogical approach by enabling her to integrate empathy, creativity, effective classroom management, and student-centred teaching practices into her classrooms. Her academic training in Psychology also allows her to incorporate psychological perspectives into literary and language studies, creating an interdisciplinary learning environment.

In addition to her formal qualifications, Dr. Priyadharshini has completed certificate and diploma courses in Communicative English, which have further enhanced her expertise in language teaching and professional communication. These include the Business English Certificate (BEC) from Cambridge University, along with diploma-level training from Bharathiar University focusing on spoken and written English. These qualifications support her teaching of academic English, communication skills, and professional English, preparing students for higher education and the global workplace.

Dr. Priyadharshini is actively engaged in research and scholarly publication. She has published five papers in Scopus-indexed journals, along with research publications in national and international academic platforms. She has also published a book and three book chapters with international publications. In addition to her publications, she is a patent holder, reflecting her engagement with innovation and interdisciplinary research. Her research interests encompass literature, language, psychology, women’s writing, trauma, memory, identity, and the intersection of literary and psychological studies.

She has presented her research at various national and international conferences and has participated in academic conferences, faculty development programmes, workshops, and other scholarly activities. Her interdisciplinary research approach, combining literary studies with psychological perspectives, contributes to a broader understanding of literature, culture, language, and human experience.”
