Dr. Savitha Ravishankar is an accomplished scholar in Kannada literature with a distinguished academic and professional background. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in Kannada from Bangalore University, an M.Phil. in Translation Studies from Kannada University, Hampi, and a Ph.D. in Kannada Literature from the same institution. With a career spanning over three decades, she has contributed extensively to Kannada research, education, and culture. Notably, she was a full-time research scholar at Kannada University, Hampi, where she contributed to the monumental Encyclopedia of Purana under the guidance of Central Sahitya Academy awardee Prof. O.L. Nagabhushan Swamy. She has co-edited the Encyclopedia of Kannada Folklore Dictionary at Karnataka Folklore University and presented over 25 research papers in national and international seminars, focusing on 12th-century Vachana literature. Her thought-provoking columns and poetry have been featured in prestigious publications like Prajavani, Himagni, and Kendasampige. Dr. Savitha has been an inspiring resource person for esteemed organizations, including All India Radio, the Sahitya Akademi, and Kanaka Samshodhana Kendra. She has delivered captivating lectures, such as the celebrated Muttu Bandide Kerige series across colleges in Bangalore. A recipient of the distinguished contribution award by the Women’s Forum, MLA Association, Bangalore, she continues to actively mentor students and lead initiatives at Christ Academy Institute for Advanced Studies, where she serves as an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Department of Languages. Her memberships in academic boards like Bangalore University, Mount Carmel College, and MLAC further reflect her dedication to Kannada academia.
